Meridian Labs LTD. has been incorporated to perform the research and development aspects of the project to utilise 'Cell Broadcast' and its various derivatives, such as Mobile Multicast, Internet Multicast and Geocast technologies. The team behind Meridian have 17 years experience successfully demonstrated public warning systems in the United States and other places, which eventually lead to its adoption for the new CMAS/WEA system . Seven counties at the present time deploy Cell Broadcast alongside other methods for public warning purposes.
Our mission is to expand this success to include other Civic Information purposes. It has been realised that it is just as important to tell the affected population what to do and where to go after the disaster, as much as it is to warn them of it. Cell Broadcast and other technologies are well suited to this task, as was envisioned in the standard ETSI 102-900 and 3GPP 023.041.
We are working with government and other interested parties to turn this potential into a practical tool.
Meridian Technologies, also incorporated in May 2014 has been created to carry out operational functions related to the services provided as part of the solution.
